Winter in Gaza: A Struggling Order for Palestinians

Winter in Gaza is setting a very difficult crisis for its residents. The civilians in the area do not have adequate clothing, shelter, or heating systems, meaning thousands are likely to be exposed to very cold and harsh winters. The climatic conditions have only stagnated the already difficult health and living conditions in the area further. A lot of homes in the Gaza strip only consist of walls with bulging windows and behaved roofs with no insulations, which lead to extremely cold living conditions. The old families had to go through the cold without any form of proper clothing, as such systems were either out of reach or lacking in the first place.

More vulnerable parts of the population such as the elderly, children, and the disabled tend to be in dire pain in the extreme cold. With limited resources, many families only depend on a few amounts of support which would still never suffice their needs. Such scenarios have also been a result of heavy blockades which have added to years of destruction in Gaza. As a consequence of this, many relief workers face difficulty providing needed assistance such as winter clothes and blankets as such clothing is in really limited supply.

National and foreign humanitarian actors are coming out to assist although the scope of the crisis is a formidable impediment. There are also dire shortcomings in the access and resources available for relief operations. While a quick fix is not forthcoming, the people of Gaza are preparing for a colder winter anticipating some humanitarian assistance and efforts that can take them out of the plight they are currently living in. While the endurance of the populace continues, the call for help is more urgent than ever.
